About What Causes What

Separate the mechanism from the smoke.

The scientific literature is full of isolated findings: testosterone and risk, income and mate choice, vitamin D and status. Most public versions of those findings are bivariate stories that cannot tell reverse causation from a confounder from a mechanism. What Causes What is a public, citation-first atlas that refuses to flatten them. The atlas is the map; the matrix is the grade table. Every shareable page carries a citation block.

The site is web-only and has no accounts. Firebase holds the public graph. Next.js on App Hosting is the only server. The curated seed ships in the repository so the atlas is readable without a live project — and so every claim has a diff. The same catalog is at /api/graph.
