What Causes What is a public reference site. There are no user accounts, no profiles, and no comments. We do not ask you to create an identity.

The hosted service may collect standard server logs (IP, user agent, path, timestamp). Firebase Analytics fires only after you choose “Allow analytics” on the consent banner. The choice is stored in a first-party cookie named whatcauseswhat_consent. Necessary-only leaves measurement off. Email sent to hello@whatcauseswhat.org is stored in that inbox.

The graph data is scientific citation metadata, not personal data. Firestore security rules allow public reads of that graph and deny all client writes.
