Contest outcome (win / loss)
Who won the last status-relevant contest. The trigger in winner–loser models.
Mazur's biosocial model says victory raises T and defeat lowers it, which then biases the next contest. Meta-analyses find a clearer effect in the field than in sterile labs, and a smaller effect than pop-science implies.
Also called victory, defeat.

Longitudinal / panel · Moderate
Contest outcome (win / loss)→Testosterone
Winning a meaningful contest raises T relative to losing. That T change then colors the next contest. A loop, not an arrow.

Longitudinal / panel · Low
Testosterone→Contest outcome (win / loss)
The other half of the loop: higher T states make another challenge more likely. Evidence is thinner than the win→T half.
