Inositol
g/day
Myo-inositol or D-chiro-inositol powder, often 2 g twice a day. It is that powder, not metformin.
Trials use myo-inositol, sometimes with a little folic acid, for months in metabolic syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome, or pregnancy. A head-to-head against metformin, or a pack that combines both, is a different product.
Also called myo-inositol, D-chiro-inositol, inositol supplement.

Inositol→Insulin resistance (HOMA-IR)
Higher Inositol decreases Insulin resistance (HOMA-IR).
Giordano 2011 found that 2 g of myo-inositol twice a day plus diet for six months lowered the HOMA insulin-resistance index versus diet plus placebo in 80 postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome. D'Anna 2015 saw a smaller HOMA drop and less gestational diabetes in 220 obese pregnancies; that file was open-label.
