Night / rotating shift work
A work schedule that pushes sleep into the day: night shifts and rotating rosters. Hours in bed on a normal night schedule are a different clock.
The object is when the clock says you work. A lab can give night and day groups the same nine-hour sleep opportunity and still park night sleep between 8am and 5pm. Short sleep on the sleep page is hours in bed. Nurses, drivers, and volunteers on an assigned night roster count when the work clock moved.
Also called night shift, rotating shift, night work.

Night / rotating shift work→Insulin resistance (HOMA-IR)
Higher Night / rotating shift work increases Insulin resistance (HOMA-IR).
Four assigned night shifts with a nine-hour sleep opportunity reduced clamp insulin sensitivity about 25 percent in healthy adults. Matched day-shift controls did not move.
