Alcohol intake → Testosterone
Heavy drinking is an HPG intervention. A glass of wine is not a T protocol in reverse.
Review · Moderate
Supported by an experiment or a tightly identified design. Still read the caveats.
Mechanism
Emanuele and Emanuele review suppression of GnRH, LH, and testicular T production under chronic alcohol. The direction is down. This is one of the few lifestyle→androgen arrows that is not a supplement ad.
Caveats
Review, not a new RCT. Sex differences, binge vs daily, and liver disease all matter. Do not cite this against moderate intake without the dose.
Effect
qualitative. Heavy chronic use suppresses male T. Light social use is a different exposure.
