Fenugreek → Testosterone
Higher Fenugreek moves Testosterone only in some conditions. Read the mechanism.
Rao 2017 found that 600 mg of Testofen fenugreek seed extract a day for twelve weeks raised total and free testosterone versus placebo in 120 healthy men aged 43 to 70. Lee-Odegard 2024 saw a saliva testosterone rise versus placebo in 95 men and missed on plasma. Rao 2020 left testosterone unchanged in men with prostate symptoms.

Mechanism
Authors treat a fenugreek seed extract as a way to raise testosterone. They do not isolate one saponin. Rao, Steels, Inder, Abraham and Vitetta assigned 120 healthy men aged 43 to 70 to 600 mg of Testofen a day or placebo for twelve weeks. Total and free serum testosterone rose versus placebo. Aging Male Symptom scores and some sexual-function items also moved. Lee-Odegard, Gundersen and Drevon assigned 95 men aged 40 to 80 to 0, 600, 1200, or 1800 mg of TrigozimR plus essential nutrients for twelve weeks. Plasma total testosterone and free-testosterone index rose versus baseline and missed versus placebo (P=0.122 and 0.059). Saliva testosterone rose 37.2 percent versus placebo (P=0.042). Rao and Grant assigned 100 men with benign prostate symptoms to 600 mg a day or placebo for twelve weeks. Prostate scores missed. Testosterone, free testosterone, and SHBG did not change.
Caveats
Researchers assigned people to a seed extract or a control, so this is a trial stamp. Brand, matrix, and assay split. More papers of the same design do not settle the claim. Rao 2017 is a branded extract and a symptom scale as the primary. Lee-Odegard tablets also carry essential nutrients; plasma missed versus placebo. Rao 2020 is the same family of extract in men with prostate symptoms and is null on testosterone. This is a journal entry, not medical advice and not a reason to take fenugreek to raise testosterone.
Effect
qualitative. Rao 2017: Testofen 600 mg, 12 wk, N=120, total and free T vs placebo. Lee-Odegard 2024: N=95, saliva T vs placebo; plasma T vs placebo P=0.122. Rao 2020 BPH: T unchanged.
