Prolonged sitting
hours / day
Hours of unbroken chair time. The object is sitting that is not interrupted, not a missing gym session.
Trials park people in a chair for a workday and compare that with the same chair plus a few minutes of walking or standing every half hour. That is not a training program. Aerobic minutes and lifting sessions are different work.
Also called uninterrupted sitting, sitting time, sedentary time, chair time.

Prolonged sitting→Insulin resistance (HOMA-IR)
Higher Prolonged sitting increases Insulin resistance (HOMA-IR).
In 24 adults with type 2 diabetes, an 8-hour day of unbroken sitting produced a higher postprandial insulin curve than the same day with 3-minute walking or simple resistance breaks every half hour.
