Risk, rank, mating, and bargaining. We rely on validated psychological instruments to understand behavior.
Cognitive performance
Attention, memory, and processing speed on a named lab task. It is not IQ-as-destiny and not a career score.
Contest outcome (win / loss)
Who won the last status-relevant contest. The trigger in winner–loser models.
Depression
Major depressive disorder, or symptom severity on a named scale such as HAM-D or BDI. A bad week and a memory-task score are different objects.
Dominance strategy
Rank via coercion, intimidation, or formal power. Costly when institutions punish it.
Educational homogamy
Assortative mating on education and cognitive class. The quiet successor to strict income hypergamy.
Income hypergamy preference
Preference for a partner with equal or higher economic rank. Historically female-typical in surveys.
Interpersonal trust
Willingness to transfer resources to a stranger who can keep them. The trust-game object, not a vibe.
Leadership effectiveness
Rated or revealed ability to coordinate a group. Not the same as being chosen as leader.
Loneliness
The felt gap between the contact a person wants and the contact they have. Living alone and a thin network are different measures.
Mindfulness-based training
A course that trains attention on present experience without chasing or fighting thoughts. The papers here are MBCT or mindfulness-based CBT, not a personality score.
Prestige strategy
Rank via skill, knowledge, or valued contribution. Others copy you voluntarily.
Economic risk tolerance
Preference over lotteries, usually measured with Holt–Laury or similar choice lists.
Sociosexuality (SOI-R)
Orientation toward uncommitted sex. Measured with Penke and Asendorpf's revised inventory.
Status seeking
Motivation to gain or defend rank. Can be pursued via dominance or prestige.
Ultimatum rejection
Willingness to destroy surplus rather than accept an unfair split. A fairness-and-status task.
Wellbeing / quality of life
How a person rates daily function and life on a named scale such as IWQOL-Lite or SF-36. A depression score is a different object.
Youth / fertility preference in partners
Stated or revealed preference for younger or higher-fertility-cue partners.
